to prove your creativity by facing off against each other oh damn it but this time the power is in the hands of your competition Midwest what style must they tattoo we decided that they’re going to tattoo American traditional West what subject must they tattoo full-bodied berries bastards all right full-bodied American tradition traditional fairies and this face off is set tomorrow you’ll have 6 hours to tattoo and based on your work one of you will be packing your machines good luck basically we’re looking at Pinups
and traditionally in this competition Pinups are hard the Saving Grace on that is that fairies are a mythological creature so if you do a more standard looking pinup with wings we’re going to get you on proportion and Anatomy but but if you go a little wild with it it’s up for the baate M body is going this way and then sudden only the legs turn weird you know take a second oh yeah yeah yeah I’m definitely going to do that make sure put the right way just trying to hit the challenge that’s all no more no less this is probably one
of the biggest opportunities in my career that I’ve had I’m tattooing for my life in this competition to have all that Wi on my mind right now this feels like a a vice RI is on my head Mike’s drawing it’s up yeah it’s like a pin up in a blender today the South and the East had to face off against each other tattooing an American traditional fairy based on your work one of you will be packing your machines Money Mike anatomically this thing is very very strange arms don’t grow from here it’s kind of weird what’s exactly going
on on with the anatomy she’s twisting up a little bit your outlines so we can see the drag lines of each needle as opposed to being one solid line also the application of that green not very smooth you went over a little bit too much that’s why you’re getting that rough texture today you must tattoo a pinup Pinups we are looking for a full head to toe pinup tattoo I’ve never done a pinup in my life when you have to do a face that’s the size of a quarter that’s not a fun face to do some of the worst disasters we’ve seen
in this competition have been on pinup day Anatomy proportion the way things fit together it’s supposed to be an attractive beautiful appealing tattoo it’s supposed to look human make your tattoos pop guys it’s your safety and it also can be your demise a little bit over it at this point just go simple don’t overthink it I’m just stressed out and I’m going to end up stressing everybody else out you’re going to stress me out more if you go home just do a good clean tattoo you’ll be fine it’s a little wide for her she’s so
narrow yeah this leg doesn’t look like it would make sense now K does not have what it takes to be in this competition unless Jimmy’s there holding her hand guiding her through everything she’s doing the way I see it it’s like her leg needs to come up like there or something that’s a tricky one k is screwed stand natural for me Pinups are very tough because there’s very small little eyes a very small little nose dainty little fingers so every drop of ink you put on the skin has to be perfect that’s a good spot it should be
cute it should be attractive it should be beautiful that’s what makes a pinup a pinup perfect stencil dude it’s going to be a good day I’m losing my mind right now why the am I over complicating it you think like the Ruffles and the skirt look cool or should I just take them out you can do them just don’t whip them like crazy know this is a lot more than I’m going to Simple and Clean thank for team East because I would be over complicating the [ __ ] out of this you don’t always have to be the first one to
start I need to buckle the down so that I can do this tattoo have you always wanted to be a tattoo artist yeah I was really young when I found out what tattooing was my dad’s like really covered in tattoos oh Mance the first time that I ever went to a tattoo shop I went with my dad for one of his appointments and it was just like sensory overload all these colors and all this art everywhere it hit me hard here we are now tattoo and a pin up on your leg true have you been doing this for a long time tattooing mhm I’ve been tattooing
for 3 years oh wow yeah yeah so I’m the I’m the baby here the greenest one I mean I’m one of the oldest tattooers here but one of the least experienced yeah in this competition might assume that I have a lot more time under my belt simply because I’m one of the oldest people here but I have the least amount of experience compared to everybody else obviously like these lines are my weakest lines so I’m wondering if I should shade one way on it you can like bring it like shade from that way like down like that yeah you
can yeah I don’t know why she wanted this tattoo because she has issues pulling lines in the first place K needs to go home today you had to show Artistry tattooing a pinup let’s see how you did Jessa I don’t understand this shoe that I’m looking at I don’t see how this leg and knee is coming out and then swooping down around and coming straight down but in front of the other leg I don’t know where that’s coming from and how it’s making that turn for a very simple drawing it has to be right you did those
two brown lines that come to the nostrils and gave her zero nose you definitely show some technical problems here today k today’s a day to do small details and do a cute face I think you do that but if you’re going to have a hiccup in line hope it’s not somewhere like right on her chin since it’s right there it’s jumping out from her waist up she’s super cute her proportions look right and then the shape of that thigh going into the knee it doesn’t look like it’s hers it raises some questions anatomically so we’re looking at between
Kay and Jessa this is between the East and the east there’s a little bit of rough application in Jess’s but the roughest application of the day is in K’s tattoo my vote’s for K application aside just in terms of anatomically laid out my votes for k k the judges have decided K you do not have what it takes to be ink mastered this week we’re testing versatility man I’m doing pretty versatile versatility is important in general because you’re not going to always get what you want to tattoo but you should be able to tattoo everything
you get like that’s your wheelhouse week after week you have competed with or against the artists next to you learning their strengths and their weaknesses that’s true now it’s time to use everything in Your Arsenal to take out the competition what does that mean today you have the power to call out another artist w regardless of region no [ __ ] it’s crazy you will each create a line drawing the artist you call out must tattoo your line drawing oh Hyrum which artist do you want to call out call out Angel okay what you doing
I’m going to hand you something that you can perform I get that Ham’s trying to protect our team but we don’t need protection we’re good tattooers this could have been our shot to really take some body out there you go girl hope cool thanks man go for it a two it a day right all right I’m going to do my best man on paper I’m kind of an unlikely competitor here ham gave me a drawing of a lady face and that’s something that I do all the time in black and gray but it’s versatility day so why not do it in
color I think that it’s super important to come face to face with what you’re not good at I also changed the features of this lady face a little bit because I want want it to be a softer face I don’t want to shoot myself in the foot by going the easy rounde that’s a cool piece it’s pretty cool this week you had to prove your versatility by tattooing someone else’s line drawing and your own design let’s see how you did Angel you had to tattoo Ham’s line drawing the way you translate someone else’s drawing is
tricky you have that black section behind the earring which gives her this crazy little pencil neck the contrast on this tattoo it just makes the things that aren’t appealing standout the mouth looks incredibly small she does look like she’s missing a tooth the additions and the changes that you made got you more than anything yeah today you must tattoo Japanese cranes sh I have studied Japanese this entire time up to this competition the only thing I did not study was a Japanese crane see that coming a crane
is difficult because it’s this long elegant bird and it’s always standing in the water and it looks beautiful and if it doesn’t have the kind of Grace that they’re depicted in then you flop it’s going to be a tough one especially does in composition yeah cranes have big long wings that can Propel this big heavy bird long beaks long necks and strong Talons on long skinny legs yeah I like where it looks right now composition here is going to be tough because people ask for Sons they ask for senior but
less is so much more in Japanese tattooing I’m good with it okay I think we’re going to see certain people take off and certain people never get off the ground ready yep let’s do this [Music] party as far as what I know how to do in tattooing Japanese is the one that’s still cloudy for me I can’t afford to show anybody in the room that I don’t know what I’m doing I have to act like I’m cool how does it feel to be the last girl standing I grew up fighting constantly fighting boys bigger than me my dad owns a martial arts school and I
spent pretty much every day of my childhood there when I was 4 years old I was breaking boards with my hands you have to punch all the way through to succeed this is no different I have to trust that what I’m doing is going to carry me through no matter what I have to be Fearless now I’m not afraid of anything because I’m like I’ve been outmatched my entire life you know what I mean that’s where you get your grit from you know three more hours three more hours [Music] guys a lot of people in this competition
would try to avoid the chest it is a pretty difficult area to tattoo just based on your canvas breathing it can make it feel like you’re tattooing on a rocking ship you feeling all right yeah it looks really awesome your lines look really good thanks there’s no room for eror so I’m moving like the lasses do you think the lines are too th I don’t think they’re too good I’ve busted my ass to get to the point that I’m at in this competition I’ve never been parted nobody handed me [ __ ] I want tattoo of
the day so that me and the Midwest have the power to vote someone from the west down to the bottom we got to send one of these mother home 1 Hour 1 hour [Music] remaining I got a lot to do it’s hard to see the forest for the trees when I’m this deep in the weeds I’m going to do some just like light black and gray wash to build out those clouds a little bit and then we put the yellow in the beaks a little bit of color in the eye 50 minutes to do all of that more than enough right yeah swimming in extra time there’s a
feeling of fear and doubt that comes with being targeted I hope I didn’t up any bird rules that I don’t know about the whole point behind Bob’s skull pick today was to keep me busy and he did if I go to the bottom then Bob did his job all right wow that’s amazing I was worried we weren’t going to finish but I’m glad we did I feel like I did two cranes today because I did two cranes today that like that means that each one of my cranes I get half as much time to do and half as much time to draw right I
don’t know how it’s going to all stack out today you are being tested on composition tattooing Japanese cranes let’s see how you did Kelly your tail feathers in this tattoo are beautiful they’re shaded beautifully but these drawings are weird your bird is like a terod actyl you have a massive head with a very small body and when you gnarl up their beaks and gnarl up their heads you create more of a dinosaur look the idea here was style and grace this doesn’t hit that [Music] look thanks Jimmy I actually like this tattoo it’s
simple and legible but that back leg coming out and over the wing anatomically it’s a little strange I just wanted to show more of the leg you put a gray cloud next to a gray shaded section of the wing it looks like that’s part of the bird it just looks like a third row of feathers the Cloud’s not doing anything except disrupting your flow composition there is very strange that was the nicest one up there angel the solid red in the sun is very saturated there’s also some nice soft gray areas but as far as composition
